Getting Started with Exatom on Shopify

Integrating Exatom into your Shopify store is straightforward. Just install our Checkout Analytics app to begin capturing detailed checkout insights.

Installation Process

  1. Visit the Exatom Checkout Analytics app on the Shopify App Store: https://apps.shopify.com/exatom-checkout-analytics
  2. Click Install and approve the permissions to add the app to your Shopify store.
  3. You’ll be redirected to Exatom, where you can log in or create a free trial account if you’re new.
  4. Confirm the Shopify integration when prompted to securely connect your store.
  5. That’s it, the setup is complete. Exatom will automatically begin collecting checkout interaction data.
Tip: Ensure you’re logged into the correct Shopify store before installing.

Insights and Reporting

Data availability
Your initial insights generally emerge within 30 minutes, depending on your checkout traffic volume.

Where to find reports
Go to the Reporting section in Exatom to explore:
  1. Form Engagement: Gain a high-level understanding of how shoppers engage, hesitate, or drop off in the checkout flow.
  2. Field Metrics: View per-field performance, including drop-offs, error rates and autofill usage.
What you can do next
  1. Identify friction points (e.g., fields with high error or drop-off rates).
  2. Prioritise checkout improvements and A/B testing to lower drop-off rates and increase conversion.
  3. Monitor changes over time to assess the effects of optimisations.
  4. Configure alerts in the Exatom platform to inform your teams when performance varies.
What features are not available
Due to the nature of the Shopify checkout integration (meaning through their APIs that they make available to partners), we are unable to offer the following features.
  1. Interaction and hesitation timings
  2. Rage clicks
  3. Session Replays
  4. Smart Tooltips
Do you have other forms outside of the Shopify Checkout, like account creation or loyalty programmes? Exatom will be able to assist there too, and this without limitations. Contact our Customer Success team via the in-app support function.
